
Meet Our Tour Guides
Jan Csernoch (1971) was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary, Central Eastern Europe. He holds B.S. degrees in software engineering and telecommunication.
He has lived in four countries and traveled in more than 50, mostly in Europe, South-East Asia and the Americas. He has traveled and lived in Latin-America since 2001. As a result beside Hungarian he speaks several languages including: English, Spanish and French.
Nowadays he works as a tour guide, freelance software expert and independent photographer. Jan started photographing during his travels in 1998 and since then he has turned into a professional photographer. Unicorn Multi Media is pleased to host his own stock photo agency and his travel photo blog.
He began his writing career in 1990. As a journalist and photographer he has contributed to several publications including numerous software related journals and lately travel guides (DK Costa Rica Eyewitness Travel Guide).
He believes in sustainable development and is a devoted nature conservationist. He has participated as volunteer in saving marine turtles in Costa Rica during 2002 and 2003. Since then he has been an active volunteer with his contribution as a photographer to the Costa Rican Ministry of Environment and Energy. During this work he has stayed in and visited most national parks and protected areas in this country.
His interests include politics; especially related to issues of social inequalities and environmentalism, culture and languages, open source and free software, mountain hiking and biking, nature and unsurprisingly travel in general.
He started his travels and enthusiasm in mountaineering with parental guidance at the age as early as five. Since then he became a volcano enthusiast and has climbed numerous mountains in Asia, Africa, Europe, Central and Southern America. He has summited among others Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Mount Kenya (Kenya), Jebel Toubkal (Morocco), Cotopaxi (Ecuador), Chachani (Peru), Pico del Teide (Spain), Gunung Agung (Indonesia), Mont Chirripo and a number of other volcanoes in Costa Rica and Central America.
